they're about life, and its melancholy hope.  

i kind of thought that GDBG had a theme of some sort, and maybe since it's
the first one i heard, i've let that theme penetrate my opinion of OTR.

that CD focuses on the fact that everything is tinged with a sadness -
even the most exquisite joy.  there seems to be a kind of wistfulness in
the words, even when Karin is singing about something that most people
would term strictly happy.

i guess the main reason i've enjoyed them has everything to do with the
fact that their melodies are not strictly happy, and the words say more
than you can understand the first time.

i'm not sure this makes all that much sense..
