guitarists I've seen play with OtR:
* G. Jack Henderson
* Paul Moak
* Matt Slocum
I'd probably rank them... Paul, G., and then Matt last...
but I'd venture to say that Ric would smoke 'em all...
alas, I never got to see Ric play with OtR (I got into
OtR just moments after the break-up)...
...of my "guitar gods"... those who smoke about anyone on
the list above (*IMO*)...
* Nuno Bettencourt (of Mourning Widows/Nuno)... a
great songwriter, too, since leaving his hairband.
* John Petrucci (of Dream Theater/Liquid Tension
Experiment)... the one in the group with the most
shredding-est chops, but not a wanker like Steve,
Joe, or Yngwie.
* Adrian Belew (of the Bears/King 'freakin' Crimson/
multitudes of studio sessions)... the Tony Levin of
guitars. ;-)
* Ty Tabor (of King's X/Jelly Jam/Platypus/Jughead)...
copied by many in the mid-90s grunge boom. Volume
swells and a unique, superb tone... I could listen
to an hour of his noodling and still be intrigued...
* George Harrison (known for his work on Badfinger's
"Straight Up" album... kidding... "While My Guitar
Gently Weeps" gets him mad props alone)
* Buckethead (aka Brian Carroll). Go get "Colma." No,
really... get it. He appears on 100+ albums, but
"Colma" is the best I've heard from him...
* Michael Kelsey. A true Midwestern TREASURE. go to
his name dot com. He's phe-nom-e-nal.
* Ric Hordinski... Cinti's virtually unknown virtuoso.
* Adam Jones (of Tool)... knows when to play & when not
to play. In a few years, the genius of Tool will
be recognized... if only the dumb jocks will piss
off.
* Frank Zappa... rest in peace. He was truly a mad,
mad genius. Wacky in the head, but a true modern
music composer. Phantasmagorical work ethic.
that is all...
today i'm a salesman,
Dan
np: damien rice - o (boring-er than i originally thought,
but i'll give him a chance)
