First round o' thoughts....

Wow. I have gotten some wonderful ideas from folks. Great googly moogly. I've also gotten some VERY much appreciated offers of help from supercool Lostees. Party on, as they say.

So the first concrete thoughts running through my little animal brain concern Brady's in Kent. This is a relatively small venue-- I don't know how many it could hold. But the idea of its having an OtR history (a place they've played many a time) as well as a fanbase of excellent-quality Lostees (not that any of us are sub-par) is rather attractive. Also, if we schedule an evening for, say, seven to midnight, we're looking at a total rental of $250. Which is very attractive. I also believe Bonnie might be amenable to the idea, and we know they have a sound system there. (And, of course, the thought of inviting Peter Mulvey makes me drool. The thought of inviting the Indigo Girls makes me faint.)

However, having said that, I must admit that again, I'm still thinking Cinci might be our best bet because of its being the homebase/foundation of OtR-dom and because, as was so ably pointed out, we might be able to get some certain people to show up. I'm also not sure how many people would fit in Brady's, whether Bonnie would want to make dinner for so many, and whether we can't get a similar deal elsewhere.

And on a third possibility, I'm here in Philadelphia, and organising ANYTHING would, of course, be easiest here. Would anyone even consider coming out here?

On another note (make it a b-flat?), we have to consider how much we're willing to pay. I love you all, and I'm not looking to make money on this, but at the same time, I don't have any moola of my own to shell out up front, which means that in order to reserve a hall, caterer, etc., we'll all need to decide a budget and pay in advance. Which means we have to decide how much we want to spend.

SO....

If you're at all interested in attending this shin-dig, PLEASE ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:

Would you like to have this event in Cincinnati? Would you be willing to have it in Kent, OH? Would you be willing to travel to Philadelphia? Is there somewhere else you'd care to suggest?

Is Spring/Summer a good time for you, or would you prefer some other time of year?

What kind of an event would you like to see? Very formal? Moderately formal? A Costume Ball? A Theme Ball?

What kind of food would you like? Simple hors d'oeuvres? Buffet? A full sit-down meal? (Please note: I will NOT be responsible for alcohol. Not if you want anything actually drinkable. Asking me to arrange beer, wine, etc. would be like asking a rabbit about bicycles. I'm clueless.)

What kind of entertainment appeals to you? Our own Lostees? Inviting outside talent? If so, whom, do you have any connections to help with this, and would you be willing to pay extra for this?

Which brings us to the most crucial question: how much would you be willing to pay?

Please, please, please: I need everyone to cut and paste the above questions, answer them as fully as possible (write me a novel if you feel so moved!) and email the answers directly to me. I may well take the astonishing step of opening an actual PAPER file, which means I'm REALLY serious, to keep track of all responses. So write me. Even if you're a lurker who NEVER posts, write me. If you're someone who does nothing BUT post, write me. Even if you're DREW, write me. There are, last I was told, several hundred people on this list-- I'd love to hear from all of them.

Thanks, folks.
