Re: driven by useless thoughts?
Since I have such a big mouth and there has been so much talk about
pseudo-intellectual psychobabble, i think maybe i will mention
something. first of all, "saying something with flowers" is not what
i feel to be the pseudo-intellectual psychobabble...that is
different. this "psychobabble" as we might call it would be when a
person states something in a manner in which it is completely
unrecognizable as the statement in which he or she is trying to make.
that may not make sense...what i mean is that it is ridiculous for
someone to try so hard to make a statement flowery that the meaning
is lost in the attempts to make whatever is being said sound
prettier. i feel that there are beautiful ways to state even the
simplest of things, and i respect it when one is eloquent and can
state such things in a manner which makes them more beautiful. there
are certain people who just speak with a poetry about them.
sometimes there are others who do not, yet attempt this. instead of
sounding lovely as they are attempting to do, they sound silly. the
people who can talk in this manner just do because that is who they
are, not because they try. when people try, this is when i feel the
"psychobabble" takes place. i, for one, am not a person who speaks
poetically...If i have somthing to say, i say it in the simplest,
most direct way i possibly can. maybe this is repercussions on being
a chemist and reading chemistry journals. i think most chemists
would leave out verbs if it were possible...conciseness is a part of
our nature...on the other hand, lindsey has a gift for speaking in a
very beautiful, poetic manner. I would attempt to say that if she
were speaking face to face, she would speak the same way...anyhow,
those are my views on psychobabble...i am going to stop rambling
now...sarah
