Re: Matrix

>Did anybody else see 'The Matrix'?
Yes. Twice. Not so much driven by the fact that I liked it very much,
but more by the fact that I nodded off right before the 'Oracle' scene.
It'd been a long day and I was more tired than I thought.

>Did anyone else like it as much as I did?
I did, maybe more. SciFi cinema has been sooooo pathetic until the last
year or two that I revel in anything decent. I read the screenplay to the
Warchoski (sp?) Bros. first film, 'Bound'. I liked the screenplay very much,
but was greatly disappointed by the film. With that, I went into 'The Matrix'
with low expectations. I came out *very* impressed. The SFX were outstanding
and the basic story was a great turn on one of SF's classic themes. I only
wish they would've better developed some aspects of the story like: more
info on Zion, the last human city and the agents, specificly Hugo Weaving's
character, developing personalities and a deeper conscience than
that of a single-function program. This film ranks up there with 'Dark City'
in my book.
There's another film coming out soon called 'The Thirteenth Floor' which
deals with a similar theme as 'The Matrix'. It's based on Daniel Galouye's
SF novel, 'Similacron 3', and it may be one to watch for......
