new offer from OtR (batteries not included)

well....

first of all, take your heart pills, 'cause you're about to get some
serious OtR content from the binkmeister, of all people...

and secondly, i must say that the Columbus OtR/CJ show was loads of
fun....

and perhaps most importantly, i must thank all parties involved in my
kidnapping for making it possible for me to see the show when current
financial circumstances dictate that i should've stayed home and cleaned
the apartment instead.

yeah, right.

you're all fucking nuts.

and i love you guys for it.

and now, our feature presentation:

okay, i'm not even gonna put the set list on here, because you guys
should know it by heart by now. although i find it interesting that the
stage hands were throwing CJ setlists to whomever wanted one afterwards,
while there seemed to be a strict order preventing a single OtR setlist
from reaching the hands of a dedicated Rhinelander. Go figure. I was
surprised to see that Jack was NOT, repeat, NOT playing his beautiful
Grestch! instead, he favoured a 1965 Guild electric hollowbody.
fortunately, it had the good ol' bright and shiny Bigsby virbrato bar on
it. it still sounded good though. but even MORE surprising was that Jack
traded off using a strat! WHAT? although it looked good on Ric, somehow
a strat doesn't look right on Jack. the Guild sounded better on him
IMHO. but the Vox was still there... then i'd seriously have to worry.
it was funny, because at one point Karin accidentally forgot to give Jack
a usual solo spot and kept singing instead. and after Jack gave her a
certain look of death, she started cracking up a bit. it was quite
amuzing. and this incident provoked Karin to alluded to the possibility
of the band's appearance on CBS This Morning at some point in the future.
withOUT the Junkies, by the sound of it. THIS HAS NOT BEEN CONFIRMED
and the band seems to be waiting to hear for certain. keep alert, Rhine
fans.

OtR sounded really good, too. kudos to the soundperson. although some
vocals were a little difficult to understand once in while (welcome to
the live show environment) the mix was pretty even and clean. the band
also looked like they enjoyed the show. at one point, i even made eye
contact with Linford and he returned a big grin. i think he was happy to
see a dedicated blob of Rhinelanders close to the stage.

about halfway through the set, Chris was overtaken and was compelled to
yell "I love you Brian!" between songs. The stage smiled and Karin
announced to the audience in her sweet, subtle voice, "This man loves our
drummer." i'm sure Brian blushed. he hade a shy smile, anyway. i'm sure
Brian apprieciates it Chris, but next time try sending roses. (HA!) or
some liquid beef.  LOL ;{P}

interesting notes otherwise:

Karin had on sparkly pants!

Jack had a funky shirt and his usual bedhead look. no pedal steel. :{( }
We met his wife after the show (now that we know who she is, eh, Chris?).
they have a two year permanent residency card! they won't be deported
anytime soon, at least.

Terri shaved her head clean. sorry, jg. changed outfits between sets.
and had this cable connected under her outfit which caused the bunch of
us to wonder what she was connected to and why.... looked kinda like an
umbilical chord to mother borg.... no matter, she still looked good.
miss her on violin though. still like to hear more of her.

Linford looked content to be one with the leslie..... spinning, spinning,
spinning.....

and if you are like Yzzi and would like to take "LinfordBaby" home as
your own... here's an offer which you can't refuse!
