oh, what you're missing...

jeez, I posted my Coke, pop, whatever post before I saw that there were
about 400 posts after the ones I read.

anyway, I'd played a tape of otr at work the other day and I was trying
to remember what was said about "I painted my name." I can't remember
what it was. but of "a circle of quiet" this was remarked: "sounds
like something Suzy Boggus(?) would do." I don't know who this is.
I've heard of her, and the guy said it was a country(-ish) singer. ?.

about "if I'm drowning" -- "she sounds like alanis morrisette." egad.

"lullabye" -- (someone who'd been barely listening in the adjoining room
came in during this) -- "what are we listening to? a death march?"
...*sigh*

that all-riled-up, middle section of "sleep baby jane" -- "I like THIS
part." and he said something else on the positive side about this song.

during the dozen "don'tcha wanna see what you're missing?"s of "the
seahorse" -- "no! I don't wanna see!"

someone commented that karin's voice sounded like a combination of
different singers. ?. anyway, she thought about it and said, "ever
heard of The October Project?" who?

near the end, this pity sort of statement was tossed at me: "I could
get used to this."

overall, with this group of six, it didn't go over so well. but I
pretty much expected that. only one of the many I've introduced otr to
actually became a fan. but then I wasn't drawn in initially myself. it
was a little over two years later when I listened to them again that I
fell head over heels. now I think I must have been deaf back in '93.

anyway, just thought I'd post the results of this disappointing little
experience/experiment.
