WHAAAAAAAAAAT?????????????
um, no. first of all, younger than 22 is going to resent your condescing
comment that they like something just because of their age. the poor 23 year
olds out there didn't even get included in your assessment, and the 24+'s
shouldn't be made to feel like they are selling to "trendy" music if they like
gdbd.
now, with that said...
i think generalizations are always a bad thing, but if you have to make one i
would say it is (while not necessarily true) more likely that newer fans would
vote for gdbd as their favorite while the old school fans would pick, well, an
older album.
if you became an otr fan in the last few years (at least since ric left), what
did you hear at the concerts? gdbd and a few scattered (smothered and
covered) songs from the older albums. sure you can do like i am sure some
have done and go back and buy all the other albums but they might sound
outdated.
most of us here on the list probably have some appreciation for albums like
U2' s _the joshua tree_. (just an example) a lot of us grew up (in one stage
or another) on those songs. imagine if you had never heard any song from that
album and you went and bought it now. i think you would say, hmm... this is
good, but i like _pop_ better.
also, i don't think gdbd is trendy at all. if anything, eve is their most
trendy album IMHO. can you imagin hearing "everyman's daughter" on the radio?
