saw them. It was awe-inspiring. I've never seen anything like it. I
am at a complete loss to tell you what it was like. Anna (my wife) and
I drove out to the fairgrounds and froze our little toes while watching
them. We live in the small coastal town of Haines, Alaska, so we didn't
have a lot of man-made light to fight with.

Aren't they amazing? I lived in Homer, AK for a couple years. I first saw the Lights in Seward, on a horribly cold night. I was walking from the store back to the boat in an inadequately thin jacket. I happened to glance up and to my left and there it was: a bloodred curtain sweeping across the sky from the mountains on the west to the mountains in the east. I felt like a fish staring at the surface of the pond as a net is dragged across. it turned purple, then blue and green, and I think I stood there staring for about an hour, awestruck. When I finally moved, my legs were numb from the cold and I fell over! But I hadn't felt anything for that hour. I remember looking at photos when I was a kid and thinking that the lights couldn't possibly be that bright, that the photos must have been 'fixed.' What a pleasant surprise then, when I saw it for myself, and felt that God has a thing for lazer light shows.

I miss Alaska...
