Re: Thinking of the back roads...

i grew up about 8 miles from the delaware memorial
bridge, on the jersey side. the least densely
populated township in the least densely populated
county in the state. time runs very slow there and
not much has changed since i was a boy, let alone
since when i left for college. the roads and
landscape are the best - flatflat earth, many more
farm animals than cars or people, rarely ever a
constable to stop people driving 60 on 2 lane
highways. i must conjure a purpose to take a respite
from suburban hell to go back this fall during
twilight.

my "hometown" is still not cable ready. i could see
the county memorial hospital from my bedroom window
(about 125 yards or so), and that's where it cuts off,
only to start again several miles north on route 45.
not enough houses for it to be worth the cable
company's effort. i found people's reaction to this
-"what do you MEAN you couldn't get cable?" - when i
was at college to be extremely amusing.
