Re: In a quandry

Wow, I really opened up a can of worms with this topic
didn't I?

As far as the breech of contract by copying a CD
thing, it is my understanding of the current laws
governing intellectual property that you can make as
many copies of said piece as youi want, as long as no
two copies are not used simoultaneosuly. For instance,
it is totally legal to copy a CD, or a song from that
CD, but you cannot listen to both the copy and the
original at the same time.

BTW, As far as the RIAA treating legit customers as
criminals, I think that is more a sign of the times.
Think about it, the patriot act basicly declares a
suspected terrorist guilty until proven innocent.
MAny business's are following this model as well under
the label of "for our own protection." Try taking a
backpack into a Regal cinemas. They have banned them
"for our own protection," when they really just want
to stop people from bringing in outside food. Here's a
doozy of a story:
I walked into a Best buy with my backpack on. The
security person told me to put it in my car. I
explained to her that I do nto have a car, that I rode
the bus. Eventually, I got her to bring me the
manager, after trying to convince him that I'm not a
criminal, that I just wanted to look at computer
parts, the manager finally came out and said it was
store policy to think of everyone with a backpack as a
shoplifter. Needless to say, I do not shop there
anymore, but it is there loss. I spent over a grand on
computer equipment at thier competitor's store within
a month.

I'm sorry, on another rant. You guys really need to
slap me when I do this. My point is, that treating
people like criminals just makes them mad.
