 The reason Tolkien and Lewis are not considered
Conteporary Christian Literature, is simply the fact
that they are not contemporary. Both authors are dead,
and thus  they are not writing anything right now. 
To argue this point further, I just finished a
contemporary Lit class. The oldest book we read was
"the hours," which was written in 1997. in fact, the
professor stopped using a book from the 80's, because
it ceased to be contemporary. it was to old.
