I think you have a point here; there really shouldn't be any technical
reason for a band to be unable to play using other equipment. The only
real exception I can think of would be for a band like Joy Electric where
most of the music is programmed into synths, and if the only copy of
something got stolen...you get the point.
Perhaps the band is just not willing to ask others for such a favor...after
all, it could be a lot to ask.
