Karin's wisdom/lyrical barbs

Hey listees,

Do you guys remember an interview with Linford in
which he said that he hoped the songs stayed with the
listener like "these little barbs you can't shake
off"?

I really have to say that Karin's songs have been
having that effect on me lately. I'm coming to see
Linford's songs as beautiful artistic backdrops of
enigmatic content. Something I can listen to five
times and come away with five different
interpretations. I appreciate this.

I'm coming to see Karin's songs however as beautiful
insightful truths. Is it ironic that it's the songs
she writes that are the barbs I can't shake off? I
don't know.

The latest example is "Anything at All" which she has
confessed is about "resolution" Rhis is my
interpretation of hte song, but I thihnk it's such a
beautifully haunting insight into the mind of someone
who is clearly growing and assesing the truths she/he
has come to accept. It gives me chills when I hear it
now. Even Linford said at one show--I think it was
Taft 2000 that he couldn't get this song off his mind.
 I can see why.

Here are the lyrics. I'm pretty sure they are
complete.

I follow you from town to town
I need it
I’m better off when you’re around
I mean it
Sooner or later
Things will all come ‘round again
Sooner or later
I won’t need anything
Anything at all

I walk these streets alone at night
When it hurts me
A perfect life’s an oversight
You curse me
Should have know better
Than this esoteric love
Down to the letter
It don’t mean anything
Anything at all
Anything
Anything at all

You and I
You and I
I wrestle with these guilty thoughts
I’m losing
You’re all I am
I’m what your not
Confusing
Sooner or later
Things will all work out for good
Sooner or later
You’ll believe anything
Anything at all
Anything
Anything at all

regards,
mark
