i think that's where i'd appeal to the relativity of
everything to jesus. as for being a child of god, do
you mean any person or do you mean christians?

virtuous pagans etc.? how many levels/circles do you
think are in hell? :)

even if we couldn't agree on this deserving business
as a point of departure, i think you're right about
god's discretion. regardless of the things i'm
grasping little by little on this christian path, i'm
sure he's got a few surprises for me in heaven :)

i think we've danced around this 'cause we don't want
to into the details and the intricate aspects. lots
of us don't have a firm belief one way or the other or
at least we don't have a firm "defense" for our belief
(either way). i'm definitely interested in learning
more about the subject. that'd be good off-list
though, probably, unless others are interested?

i think it might be easier using our ears, but a lot
of why we have trouble has to do with ourselves.
ignorance and lack of confrontation fuels a lot of it,
but self-preservation and general "wickedness" (fun
word) is an interesting component often.

there are plenty of things that tell me why i _should_
love people; but when i don't, it's mostly b/c of me.
no matter what the other party does to deserve or not
deserve my love, mercy etc. (no matter what they do to
be more understandable to me or not), i'm to love them
anyway. when i don't, i can't use their faults as a
crutch...not if we're talking the unconditional
'stuff,' good ol' agape, ya know.
