assessing the plight of the destitute

hi all-

so, um, i'm trying -really trying- to concentrate on work and such, just 
like a good citizen- trying to eat at regular intervals, get to work on 
time, drive something near the speed limit, stuff like that... but i seem to 
be distracted just a little measly tiny itsy bitsy bit because MY CD ISN'T 
HERE YET!!!!

i'm sad.  i'm worried.  what if it got lost in the mail?  what if my postman 
(sorry, post-person) got attacked by a viscious rabid neighbor dog?  what if 
i accidentally ticked off stacie on the phone and she didn't take my order?  
what if the ups men were caught in a terrible storm and are now stranded on 
a desert island with my little cd and a beat up volleyball.  (great, i can 
just see it- i'll get it in ten years from some guy who says it saved his 
life.  yeah, thanks a lot man!  you can't trust anybody these days.)

it makes me wonder about things.  is it just me?  is it because i defected 
to the west coast?  maybe you all can help out- we can form a support group. 
  the blighted will unite!  or something.  just curious.
