Re: tor-e

Okay folks,
This whole thread is making me feel really young. Pretty much
OTR's Eve was my first cd. I mean I guess I shouldn't complain, but it's
like in church when that ex-druggie comes in with his testimony. You just
sit there and think, "Well, I stole a candy bar once." Even so, I did
have some musical interests before OTR, I listened to a lot of oldies,
10,000 Maniacs, They Might Be Giants, U2, REM, Bob Dylan, and Don
Fransisco( anyone remember him?).

I tend to agree with this assessment, but I think that many times Tori's
lyrics and music can mesh better than OTR on a poetic level. Of course it
is like comparing Mozart to Beethoven.

Now this is way off. I thought Boys from Pele wasn't nearly as strong of
an albulm as Little Earthquakes which just flows beautifully. I once went
hiking in the UP (That's Michigan's Upper Pennisula for those of you who
don't know), and I had that albulm playing on my Discman. I had listened
to th cd on repeat for three times and not even noticed that it had
repeated. Boys for Pele seems a little more jerky to me, I don't have the
same comfort going from song to song. But that is just my opinion.

Any of you out there live on the wayy from Ohio to Oregon? In three
weeks I'm driving out for school, and I was going to make a road trip out
of it.

Steve
