Exactly. I firmly believe in drawing boundaries for onesself--boundaries of
taste as well as moral and spiritual boundaries. I think anyone who is
honest with himself or herself will know where to draw those lines. Now,
I'm talking about mature adults here; I think children and teenagers need a
bit of guidance in matters like these, and that's part of the parents' job
in shaping their children.

Right, but who better to draw boundaries for me than myself? I know what
affects me adversely, and I try to avoid it. I can't count how many CD's I
bought for one or two songs but had to throw away because the rest of what I
heard offended my sensibilities.

I think also that they would not make such a choice because of their
artistic and personal integrity. If I'm performing somewhere and I decide
to cover someone else's material, I'm not going to choose something that is
opposed to my worldview; that would not only be potentially damaging to me
as a person, but to me it would also be dishonest. Granted, there are many
artists who wouldn't mind making such a compromise, but I would argue that
their integrity doesn't mean much to them.

I could go on and on here, but there's not much sense in wearing this
argument out...
