I dunno, I thought the film's drugs-are-bad message was one of its more
banal, thus not-so-artistic, aspects.

I thought _Trainspotting_, which showcased the pleasures *and* the
pitfalls of doing drugs, was more artistic, in that respect.

Sure, the film has done us all a service if it keeps someone off drugs,
but that doesn't make it good art.  Good propaganda, maybe.

Nor I, though not for the reasons you give.  I simply can't imagine why
people would stick needles in themselves for fun to begin with.
