Requiem for a Dream (recently talked about) makes
me not want to ever stick a needle in my vein.

Then I'd say it is good art if that's it's effect.

Having been into drugs as a teenager and having one dear dead friend, one
still lost in a haze, one girl whom I found out later did who knows what with
who know who for quite some time just to stay high when she moved away for a
while (I saw her when she got back and she happened to bend over in front of
me and both breasts were completely black and blue) and another who became a
stripper for many years I didn't need to watch a movie to know the effects on
people's lives but if Requiem steers one person away then it's all right in
my book. Of course, I probably won't watch it myself cuz I don't 'need' to.
