Various and Sundry. WAY too long.

Well, I don't have a CD changer. Matter of fact, my new-to-me '94 Civic
doesn't even have a CD player. Yet.

But what I do have that changes constantly is Macast on my desktop. So I
don't have CDs, I have songs. And I don't think most of the folks here
are going to be familiar with most of the stuff I'm listening to, but
I'll give it a shot. Well, I have over six hours of music running now,
so I won't list everything.

Thomas Dolby I Love You Goodbye (amazing song. Jaw dropping,
really.)

dozen tracks-- live, Mark Knopfler solo stuff, old, new, whatever)

VNV Nation Beloved (this is a live track someone booted-- it's
not out in the States yet, though I've ordered two copies of the new
album directly from Germany and I'm so excited I could spit. Ronan glowed
when he sang this in concert. WOOTY WOOT!)
VNV Nation Standing (Original)
VNV Nation Left Behind
VNV Nation Solitary

Bits and pieces-- samples of partially downloaded things.
Links to streaming 'net radio off Live365. Utter rubbish and completely
useless, though it seemed a good idea at the time.
:Wumpscut: unknown fragment of something
Indigo Girls Ghost (Live) (Emily mentions Colorado-- is this the
Red Rocks/1200 Curfews version? It's the only IG I don't have)
The Second Sight Pain In Me (Future Pop mix by VNV Nation)
Juno Reactor Solaris

Wow. Didn't I say I wasn't going to list everything? There is it. Nearly
six and a half hours. I can start it anywhere and flip through it at
will. I have nearly a thousand mp3s in my cache, so I flip things in and
out at will. I'm also usually scouting LimeWire for new stuff, too.

So I don't know what this all says about me. Some of it is stuff I've
loved and listened to for years, some brand-new I'm testing out. Some are
demos from bands who've asked for feedback from lists I'm on. Who am I?
If you came across this list somewhere-- and someone on the net will--
what would you think? Besides the fact that I am/must be a totally
schitzo flake with no life. Who am I, by this count?

Also, as regards the rereading ritual, I have to say I don't reread
Tolkien, but I do reread Jane Austen. At least three or four books, at
least every two years. I have Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sentibility,
and Persuasion all stored in my laptop, despite the fact that it only has
a three-gig hard drive, so space is at a bit of a premium. Why do I do
it? Perhaps for the same reason I go see my friends when the mood strikes
me. The books-- and my friends-- create a place where I'm comfortable,
relaxed, and able to think. My old stories with my friends don't change,
but my new impressions always do. I'm never quite the same person as I
was the last time, so neither are they.

Besides, I'm a hopeless romantic.
