Yeah, the first album (self-titled) is like that.  I'm not too fond of that
album- too much crap on it.  But the other two albums- Disco Volante and
California- aren't really like what ye speak of.  They are better than the
debut, by far... IMO.

So in other words, I agree with you- at least concerning the debut.  But
they got better- really they did.  :)

As for staying around- they've been around for almost ten years now.  Ever
since the early 90s (or maybe even late 80s), Mike Patton was in both Faith
No More *and* Mr. Bungle at the same time.  MB was sort of his side
project, but now his main thing since FNM broke up... in fact, Mike and
Bungle, Roddy and Imperial Teen, Puffy and Ozzy's band- it all sort of
casued FNM to break up...
