On the contrary, while bootlegs may not be their favorite things in the
world, I've never heard of anyone being told they can't tape, especially
if time is taken before the show to ask.

Are you absolutely sure about the Eve release show? I'm sort of heavily
into the whole tape thing, and I've never heard anything about that show
having been broadcast. That was my first concert too and I'd love to have
a copy.
