Re Moth lyrics

Chris says:
>>I find most of my favorite artists are the opposite - lyrics can be clearly
understood, but there's no obvious or coherent meaning.
>>'Professional Widow' - (Tori Amos)

I have a hard time understanding Tori's diction sometimes. I personally wouldn't call her clear. That's just me, though.

>>Some days I really think I understand what's behind this one, and when I check
again, I realize I haven't a clue.

I guess a lot of Tori songs are that way. There are about 20 web sites devoted entirely to deciphering the meaning of her lyrics.

>>Suffice it to say, for the most part, the actual lyrics to me are far less
important than the vocal melodies and inflections. At least, i think that's
where I was taking this.

Well, yes, the MUSIC is what's important. Still, sometimes, it is fun to know what they are saying. Sometimes it isn't. There is a song on the new Ani Difranco CD that I can't really understand a word of, I have the words in the CD insert, but I refuse to read them because I enjoy the song as I hear it now. Other songs, I'm just dying to know what's being said. OTR(or should I say Linford?) writes amazing lyrics, sometimes I'd like to know what's going on. Although, I would never want Karin to change.. --to echo Jessyka again, I too would *pray for the day that Karin gave me voice lessons*.
