No doubt bootlegs can be fun to make and listen to. That is irrelevant,
however. The point is that bootlegging Over the Rhine against their wishes
is showing them disrespect, is illegal, and, unless the bootleg does not
dimish the demand for their published recordings, reduces their earnings.

I, for one, find the obsession with "live bootleg" recordings to get silly,
especially with a band like Over the Rhine which is continually releasing
all kinds of good stuff on CD.

So, to all you Over the Rhine bootleggers out there, get a life. You are
treating Over the Rhine exactly how they have not treated you--badly.

If you *really* want a personally done recording of Over the Rhine, get
their written permission, and explain why its so important to you, and show
that you will be doing them financial good, rather than harm.

Here's to having a bit of integrity.
