Re:Canal Street

To those wanting to go (and that would be me because the December show at same
place was cancelled - and then so was Emery *sigh*) I will tell you where
Canal Street Tavern is. First, you should know that it is in Dayton, OH, so
that a trip from Pitt (or California) would actually be a little more than
$10.00. You will have to decide whether or not it is worth it. I know I will
be there, but I shouldn't rub in that I live within walking distance. Also,
beware because the tickets are pre-sale. Nick. the owner, is notorious for
keeping the doors closed till, like, 8:00 for a 9:00 opener, and OTR fans line
up as early as 6:00 sometimes. He could so make a killing on beer if he let
everyone in, but apparently they're doing soundchecks and all. So, when it is
20 degrees outside with a windchill of minus 15 and you are still a diehard
waiting for the show, I KNOW he could make a REAL killing if he went outside
with caraffes of hot chocolate or coffee (hot cider maybe - but you won't take
your shoes off!). If this ends up being you, then mention it to him.
Although I'm buying ahead, I'll probably be in the same line jockeying for a
good seat. You should know, though, that they are all good seats. Canal
Street is a very intimate setting, where you take a seat in the OTR living
room and commune for awhile. I'm not sure comfort comes into play, but who
notices!?

OK, so I promised to tell you where Canal Street Tavern was:
                          Downtown Dayton
                          308 E. First Street
                          phone (937)461-9343

Look for a corner facade (old building) next to Etman's Printing. Good luck!
