case in point: without the Velvet Underground, R.E.M. probably would
not exist. about the same can be said of (to various extents) Modern
Lovers, Patti Smith, David Bowie, the Cars... oh, let's see, i've got
a long list around here somewhere....

the point is, no style of music is ever truely irrelevant. and yes,
that includes Lawrence Welk. i mean, where would They Might Be Giants
be without Lawrence? ;{)}
