Alanis -- the other white meat.

Sorry to change the subject line; I had to...

I know it's tough for us "alternative" music fans to understand this
point -- I really do: I believe the reason that "talented singer
songwriters (and pseudo folk pop outfits) are literally pushed aside"
here is that it's simply not what the general public enjoys, whether
it's promoted the hell out of or packaged in the proper outfits and
videos...

My mum kinda likes some OtR (I dragged her along to a few pre-Eve and
post-Eve shows) but would rather jump out of a moving car than listen to
more than three Dar Williams or Ani songs in sequence. My niece and
nephews can't even make it to three. My brother, sister and her husband
can't make it through one.

My nearly 60 year old mom thinks Master P is "fun sounding" and cackles
when she sees Busta Rhymes. The entire Lachey clan can listen to most
parts of any Madonna album on a car trip and not complain too much.

The reason Madonna still kicks ass, dear Markus, is that she's still
freakin' brilliant. The first verse on her new CD is bar none the best
lyric I'd absorbed in years. This is all in my opinion...
