I haven't spent enough time around children to answer this, really (though
I would like to), but I recently finished reading Gerard Jones's _Killing
Monsters: Why Children Need Fantasy, Super Heroes and Make-Believe
Violence_, and one of the things that makes his book so good is that he
really seems to *listen* to what children are saying and doing.
On that level, I find his book very encouraging.
