Otr new stuff, 6pense, and Echolyn

New Songs...
So, I'm wondering -- are there any other news songs you folks have heard other than "Jesus in New Orleans"?  "Swallotail" is SORTA new, I guess, except that I have a live recording of it from '99 or so.  Anything else?  I'm interested to hear how these TWO new c.d.'s are going to turn out.

Oh, and isn't it nice to see that the new Sixpense record is already taking off, and it's not even out yet?  I've heard most of it, and I think it quite good.  It's sorta like they took "Kiss Me" and poured all of their artsy element into it -- sorta a cross between their 'pop' sound and their artsy sound -- very lush and beautiful...

Lastly, but definitely not least -- I may have a favorite c.d. of the year, and it's a COMPLETE shocker -- totally out of the blue.  Echolyn's "Mei" -- one single track, essentially a pop song, if it weren't well over 40 minutes long, and moved like a classical piece.  It reminds me of Paul McCartney's solo pop material, mixed with Kansas circa "leftoverture" and Genesis circa "The Lamb Lies down on Broadway".  I can't explain why this works, but it really does.  This is the sort of record I am convinced I could never, with any amount of work, compose the likes of.  That's all... I hope some of you, esp. the prog-rockers among you, check this out.

amen,

shannon
