VoR/Lovage/Chevelle/Pay the Girl/Bigwig's CD/Maery/J-sides

many topics, little time, beginning letters of the lines don't form a
pattern this time.

Vigilantes or Rhine? i used to be on the VoL mailing list, too... but i
think two majorly crizazy mailing lists is enough. right now i'm on OtR
and the Ytsejam (the Dream Theater list) which both have heavy volume.
also on Monk, Mourning Widows, Galactic Cowboys, and Drums & Tuba yahoo
groups, which all have minimal (if ever) volume.

Dan the Automator is cool and non-cartoony. Jennifer Charles is sweet,
almost Fiona-y and Poe-y in spots. Mike Patton is a vocal drop of honey
on the tongue of my ear (is there anything this man touches that i don't
like?). Lovage's _Music To Make Love To Your Old Lady By_ CD is awesome
(2001 on 75Ark Records). truly a "blind pre-order" delight brought to
me from the folks at Half.com. groovy and soothy and the title is
misleading.

the new Chevelle _sampler_ CD with two tracks from the upcoming CD (now
October) and a Depeche Mode cover ('It's No Good')... $1.99. you can't
beat that with a stick, even if it were being beaten by a stick and you
were the one doing it. hardrock delight from some skateboardin',
Tool-lovin' gents from Chicago.

picked up the Pay the Girl's "demo" EP (ie- not their forthcoming TVT
Records debut)... Mike Georgin (OtR, Slant, Monk, solo fame) and Josh
Seurkamp (if you've been to Blue Jordan Fest, he was the guy playing
drums with 8 of the 10 bands). it's good, but kinda pop-bland-rock for
my tastes. i believe that both Mike and Josh have left the group now,
so that's fine. i think Josh is working on his 2nd solo CD, so that'll
be cool.

i got fellow listie Brad Caviness' remix CD that he was talkin' up a bit
ago... whoa! nice stuff. definitely recommended... contact the bigwig
himself for more info... bigwig at arkansas_net

Maery Lanahan made it to Round 3 of the Dayton Band Playoffs... picked
up their freebie 4 song demo thingy last night at Canal Street Tavern...
nice. i like the new direction of their sound. they're recommended to
OtR listies, i'd say... http://www.maerylanahan.com/ check out their
mp3's... booyaka.

H/I/J-sides... i think i'm working on my 8th through 10th CD
compilations for Radiohead b-sides and/or rarities. i think it's
upwards of 13 hours of non-album tracks. great googly moogly. i wanna
really really really wanna zigazig ha. you heard me.

use me like listerine,
Dan
