Re: Top videos.

I have always loved the Thriller video.
I was really little when it came out,
and it used to give me nightmares!
Now, it reminds me of the days
a monster mummy lived under my
bed.

Here's my 20, in no order.

Madonna – Vogue+Express Yourself.  Holy cow.  David Fincher should skip the
big screen and just keep making Madonna videos.

Weezer – Buddy Holly.  Spike Jonze IS a genius.  Anyone watching this video
that disagrees is a tool..  :)

Wax – California.  Further proof of Spike’s godlike status.  This is the
one-take video with the running guy on fire.  Spike filmed it on ultra high
speed, and slowed it down to match the song length.  Anyone remember it?

Björk – Joga.  Not much to say – it’s beautiful.  Michael Gondry?

Robbie Williams – Rock DJ.  Heh heh.  This is the one where he strips, and
rips pieces of flesh off and throws them (pieces of bloody meat) onto his
adoring fans.  It’s better than it sounds.

Duran Duran – Ordinary World.  Makes me want to wander around aimlessly at
garden weddings.

Blur – Coffee + TV.  Did you know that it’s really tough to drink a gallon
of milk in an hour and keep it down?  Some say impossible.

Busta Rhymes w/ Janet – What’s It Gonna Be?  Wahooey.  I think I’ve only
seen three Busta videos, but they’re all a blast.  I’d invite Busta to poker
night sometime, he’d be funny as heck.  As long as he was no good at poker.

Madonna – Bedtime Story.  Spending huge amounts of money on a video is
almost always a good idea in my book.  Mark Romanek also did Janet/Michael’s
“Scream”, kd lang’s “Constant Craving”, No Doubt’s “Hella Good”, NIN’s
“Closer” and “Perfect Drug” and bazillions of others.

Janet Jackson – Love Will Never Do (Without You).  Herb Ritts’ videos (Chris
Isaak’s Wicked Game, Madonna’s Cherish) all kinda look the same, and this is
the best one.  Janet’s HOT in this.

Blur – Charmless Man.  Seeing Damon get pushed around is fun.  Clever
execution of a video.

Arcadia – The Flame.  Campy.  Wacky.  Russell Mulcahey before he started his
awful movie making career.  Come back to the Duran camp, Russ..  Assuming
you’re on the Over the Rhine actwin discussion list..

Kylie Minogue – Can’t Get You Out of My Head (UK vers).  Clever use of
flesh.

Tool – Aenema.  Other worldly..

Pet Shop Boys – Being Boring.  As lush and fun as the song.  I’d imagine if
Weber made more videos, they’d all look the same, just like Herb Ritts’ do,
but for one-offs, they’re cool.

REM – Fall on Me.  Michael Stipe should direct more videos.  I haven’t seen
it in awhile, but as a kid I was mesmerized.

Van Halen – Right Now.  Pretty spiffy.  And bears in videos are fun.  And
I’m not in the slightest a VH fan.

Rage Against the Machine – Bombtrack or Killing in the Name.  I don’t
remember which one it was, but most people my age saw the Rage video with
the film footage of Tacoma Narrows shaking apart, and that’s a good visual
to help describe my engineering job.

REM – Everybody Hurts.  Yeah, I think this one was mentioned before.  ;)

Radiohead – Fake Plastic Trees.  The color is cool, and Thom is in full
creepiness.  It wears me out.
