What, you think this is a new thing? When _Return of the Jedi_ came out
in 1983, I memorized the name of every single creature in that film -- and
do you think anyone ever addressed Salacious Crumb by name in that film?

Right, and that's why there have been adoring spoofs and parodies going
all the way back to _Hardware Wars_ and the _Star Wars Holiday Special_.
Oh, wait, that latter item wasn't *meant* to be a spoof or parody. :)

You know, it's a funny thing, but I do think that that _Holiday Special_
gave us our most interesting and informative look at the character of Boba
Fett until Episode II came along ... and I'm not one of those people who
thinks Boba's inclusion in Episode II was a good idea.
