i'm a music geek, and i can tell where most of my CDs
are in my music rack from across the room based on
knowing what color their liner spine is and where the
alphabet falls in my music rack. i can also usually
tell when someone put one out of order, too... :P

yes, i am a damn geek.

fine with it, though. :)

oh yes, sounds have color... but i think sometimes
the album color might effect our mental image of that
sound, too. Dream Theater's Awake is always the one
i go back to. i totally dig that album... Top 20
of all-time... maybe Top 10. the album completely
sounds like the cover to me. the nailed it. or did
the cover nail the "audio image" into my mind in a
certain way? most likely.

music videos do this, too.

i liked Radiohead's "Just" before i saw the video.
*after* i saw the video, i thought it elevated
significantly higher in my brain. the video is one
of the most brilliant video concepts of the late-90s.
IMO.

on the other hand... Fatboy Slim's "Praise You" is
a good song. i truly *hate* that video. it makes
me not like the song anymore...

music has shapes, too... Bjork is a squiggley line.
Tool is an parabola or an architecture design. Over
the Rhine is a brown paper bag... a brown paper bag
from Wild Oats Grocery store with the nice handles
that gets used far months after the initial grocery
purchase.

oh yes. we're all weird. :)

hence, Tool, heavy metal, classical music definitely
having an arithmatic concept in my mind...

Over the Rhine creating a more earthy image.
