Unless you have an awfully hip radio station or a bluegrass program, caring
about what's on the radio would not increase your knowlege of Nickelcreek.

They do come highly recommended by Charlie Peacock.

They are a bluegrass based group of adventerous young 20 somethings from San
Diego who are stretching the boundaries of Bluegrass and playing to young
audiences who would never listen to Bluegrass. In some sense you could say
that they are the Medeski, Martin and Wood of Bluegrass, in the MMW built
their reputation outside of the jazz world, but are still considered a jazz
act by jazz people.

Bluegrass and surfing.

Nickelcreek did play Bluegrass festivals in their teens. Their first album
was produced by Alison Krauss. Their mandolin player Chris Thile was
realeasing solo CD's as a young kid. A mandolin prodigy. His latest CD
get's its title from a Tolkein quote, "All Who Wander are Not Lost."

Their CD is on Sugar Creek, which is a primarily Bluegrass label. Their CD
is also one of Sugar Creeks greatest sellers ever.

They were recently featured on Ricky Scaggs All Star Bluegrass special on
PBS. Check you local station during pledge week(s... in the case of our
local station).

Go to nickelcreek.com for more info, including info on a very young Chris
Thile's solo CD's.

Watching Eternity,
Andy B.
