 i agree with you on a lot of what you said, ysoie. my main concern is only
that there be a balance between the educational aspect and the animal's
needs. i think zoos do a relatively good job and i didn't mean to be
zoo-bashing. afterall, if washoe the chimpanzee had never been brought into
captivity we would never know about non-human great apes'  sign language
capacity.(and i know that most animals are no longer captured form the wild,
but bred within zoos.) and i, and many others, would not be their
(free-living, endangered great apes') advocates. again, i meant no offense,
just reiterating the idea of respect towards those that educate.
