hi kids.
i'm reading _the astonishing elephant_ right now (since i am completely and
utterly obsessed with the animal!), and it says that, once every twelve to
sixteen months the male elephant goes through a stage called *musth*, which
means that the horomone levels rise. in the wild, bulls who are in *musth*
fight, but this period of time is not necessarily in conjunction with the
females being in heat.
wow, i got to add something intelligent to the conversation. :)
as for hating zoos, i do not especially *like* zoos, for i do not enjoy the
captivity of animals, but, at this moment in my life, it is the only way for
me to experience animals from other countries. when i have the money to go
on african safaris, i won't go to the zoo anymore. i promise. :)
