No, more as a kind of C-3PO and R2-D2.  There's a difference.  Jar Jar is
a noisy idiot who contributes virtually nothing to the story.  The droids
are funny but they are also intelligent and resourceful.  I think Merry
and Pippin tilt towards the latter, especially towards the end.
