Those poor missionaries...<laughter>

You know, there's a part of me that wishes folks wouldn't bait these guys
quite so much. I mean, they're seekin' the Truth as well, but just in a
way that doesn't do it for me in any way.

Then I recall all of the reading I've done on the Jehovah's Witness
movement and the nigh-rabid anti-intellectualism and the rewrite attitude
that they have about the Bible that it seems to breed, and the movement -
not the people - gets me a bit in a twitter. I tend to applaud folks who
go either bizzarely surreal or invite them in for coffee and divert their
attention a little from their own view when some of the more fervent JWs
come to the door and stick their foot in more than a little.

It's a tough call. I mean, I'm one of those Christians who don't do well
with forcing people to deal with the Gospel on my own terms, and so I get
frustrated when evangelicals do that (I've some stories of street
preachers in Madison that are pretty pathetic), let alone a bunch of
people whose basis of belief I don't cotton much to. At the same time,
lumping them as 'Mormons' or 'JWs' or 'Worshippers of Christ, Elder God'
(ask me my thoughts on Cthulhu sometime...) doesn't do much for ourselves,
or for them. So the cynical side of me wants to yell, "Honey! We've got
new sacrifices for today's Mass!" or freak them out with a full-on
Charismatic Press - you know, play with them. But the side of me that's
growing makes me want to take these folks in and - like Liesel - give 'em
some coffee, put on some OtR, politely refuse their tracts and
oddly-translated Bibles, and ask them about their kids or something.

I guess that's the long way around of saying, "Good job, Liesel and all."
