more veggie thoughts

Everyone's thoughts on this topic are quite interesting. It made me remember (and feel the need to point out) just how different we all are. Some of you "admire" vegetarians. Some of you like veggies, like meat, and don't care what anyone else eats. Some of you try to belittle, discredit, and trivialize vegetarianism.

Some people don't eat meat because they don't like it (my two-year-old nephew, for example). Some people don't eat meat because they feel it's healthier to eat only veggies. Some people don't eat meat because they think it's wrong to kill animals for food (Ysoie's point about leather and fur are challenges for these people, obviously. If it's wrong to kill them for food, is it also wrong to kill them for their skin?). Some people don't eat meat because the idea of *eating* an animal is just weird for them and they'd rather not. And yes, some people don't eat meat because it's becoming more common and "trendier."

I think the author of Drew's article failed to take all of these things into consideration. Different people, different reasons for it. Who cares, really, you know? There definitely are health considerations with not eating meat just as there are health considerations in general (BALANCED diet is the key). Some vegetarians choose to be vegan to avoid all animal products. Others feel that buying from "responsible" dairies, etc. is okay.

Anyway, I'll shut up now. Sorry I opened the can of worms with the pizza comment!
