Well,

whatever you say about the Puritans, they weren't as strict about sex as the
Shakers.   This sect didn't believe in sex at all.  They're "fold" was
supposed to be made of 100% new blood since they didn't believe in
procreating.  It just never appealed to the masses and they all finally died.
They did leave a few good songs, "simple gifts" comes to mind, and some
alright furniture...
