Lurking Long Enough...
To All Subscribers of this List:
Hello.
Enough is Enough. To all of you on the list flaming one another, please, I
ask you to stop. For those of you expressing, some eloquently, some not,
your political thoughts and opinions, please--stop. For all of you bantering
about stupid definitions of the word tragic and slamming Jesus Christ with
stupidity on takes of WWJD, I implore you, please stop. Some may find it
offensive, and now is not the time.
I, like another fellow listie, live only a brief 30 minute drive out of
Manhattan.
I saw the destruction with my own eyes a week ago. The loss of life is
great, and you can sense the sadness everywhere.
NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO BE DISCUSSING, SPEWING OR ARGUING YOUR PURE
UNSOLICITED BULLSHIT!! NOW is a time for MOURNING the LOSS of our fellow
Americans. People like you and me. Getting up in the morning to go to work.
Getting there. Having a cup of coffee. And not returning home.
Whatever politics you believe, that's fine...it's a free country and you are
entitled to believe what you want, and to state that opinion with our blessed
system of free speech.
I'm not going to get involved with any politics here. Over The Rhine's list
is a forum in which we should be discussing music and, generally speaking,
the *arts*. I do not like to see division and anger posted here, and may I
be so presumptuous to say that I believe many of you are not enjoying this
back and forth nonsense, either.
I think it is also safe to say that we all despise what has happened. We
despise terrorism and all those who are responsible for such acts of
violence. But politics aside, wasn't it wonderful to see such great acts of
human compassion and beauty in all of this? People all pulling together.
Humankind. Be Both.
Let's pull together in this mess, and be united as brothers and sisters, as
HUMANS, with respect and dignity for life. Stop the bullshit babbling. And
please show some sensitivity to the times.
