Re: Xian music
i can agree with points on both sides in this argument. sure, i don't really
think that anyone would go into praise or christian music purely for
profit...they have to either believe, be seeking, or have an immense respect
for christian beliefs.
however, sometimes i wonder...there are bands on certain labels that are
associated with the christian scene that are comprised completely of
non-christians, but they still play christian festivals and make themselves
widely available in the christian market...simply because they want a record
deal and tour dates (i am obviously NOT talking about OtR...not in the LEAST
and i mean that)
there is also the situation of kendall payne. she is a mainstream artist who
didn't sell well in the secular market, and while her christian beliefs are
true and not contrived or overly played up for any demographic, the switch
to marketing her as a "christian crossover" artist just makes me shake my
head. i'm not saying she sold out by doing that (as i'm also sure it wasn't
her idea)...it's just interesting.
my two cents.
