the church is. i'm still trying to
figure out how OtR
is a "christian" band. i don't mean that at all
confrontationally, and i realize there are christian
refs to god,
jesus, heaven, etc., but look at how many
are on s. mclachlan's
*surfacing*. is SHE considered
christian rock??
i don't know if i consider OTR a
christian band at all. i did, in fact, pick
up GDBD at Northwestern
Bookstore (a christian bookstore in the
minneapolis/st. paul area).
my brother picked up Besides for me at the same
store. just
thought i'd throw that out for you. maybe, just possibly, some
others on this list picked some of the cds up at christian bookstores also
and that's where the assumption of OTR being a 'christian' band comes
from.
just a thought.

more assumptions include the fact that they play at
"christian" festivals.
i.e. - "cornerstone", "purple door",
etc.
PLUS - their pastor toured with them as their merch.
table salesguy.
(fyi: he's the father of the girls in
brownhouse)
he even had website diary entries along with linford
on their christmas tour.
regardless of any assumptions/facts/linford's
statement of faith, etc. -
OtR
is a band - A BAND ALREADY! an absolutely incredible one - but just
a band.
why
do people feel the need to scrutinise whether a band is "christian" or
not?
i
know we've oft tread this "boring/mundane/irrelevant/mind-numbing/...path
before.
aren't we ALL mature enough to get past this whole
bloody labelling bullshit?
it
just makes me wanna' shake something. maybe a bloody mary.
yeah
that's it - i'll shake up a batch of bloody mary's. hold out your
glass & i'll pour.
peace & veggies,
david
