"A Catch-All Email" or "How I Learned to Love the Bomb..."

Items covered in this email may or may not include:
1. Info re: why 80-characters per line they were trying to hide
2. That Theremin-like thing Dale plays
3. My murmered musings on OtR "Downer/Floater" song theory
4. On Why Kelvin is as Irish as this pint of Miller Lite
5. Fins eat like Kings
6. Why does Criterion Co. rock so hard?

Sure Don remembered correctly that "The old IBM paper punch cards were 80
characters long". Fair enough, true statement. What he's neglecting to
tell you is why. I forget all the details, and Kevin Bacon's in the middle
of it all somehow, but basically the horizontal dimension of two Roman
chariot horses asses is... you guessed it... 80 characters long!!
Mystery: solved.

That theremin-like thing that Dale plays is most likely a d-beam controller
installed as factory equipment on a Roland groove sequencer or loop machine.
They're rockin, use a two laser setup to measure 3d space of general
objects in a 9" hemisphere around 'em. If you go to a MARS music store or
something, walk in the keyboard section, and play with it. It's more fun
than harvesting root vegetables, rest assured. Oops, Mr. Hahn answered this
too.. hmm.

I don't see how "When I Go" can be a floater and not a downer, but that's my
2c. The rest I agreed wholeheartedly with you on, Don. It's like when
Brian stormed the stage at Cubby Bear and started his little drum pattern to
Lullaby, then Karin saunters out and sings all sultrily. (sultrily?) It's
a rough way to start out a show on a song that's kindof a downer... Makes
for an extra restless crowd.

Kelvin, you couldn't be Irish if you don't plan to drink. haha, just giving
you heck. And I know all about Miller Lite's Irish origins...

Last night we had a meal from Finland. Well, prepared using Finnish
cookbooks. It was strange. Cherry soup was my favorite, but the beet and
other root vegetable salad w/ mayo dressing was a bit much to look at..

Ooh! Also last night I finally saw bits of Criterion's Beastie Boys 2xDVD
set. Wow, they put SO MUCH work into those DVDs of theirs. I'm waiting to
watch Terry Gilliam/Criterion's 3xDVD set of "Brazil" the next weekend it's
cold and rainy. The Beastie Boys thing should be given out to anyone that
just buys a DVD player to see what all GOOD can come from a DVD player.
Some videos have 9 selectable angles (steady cam shots), multiple remixes
switchable mid-song, production notes, behind the scenes photos and
documentaries... Wow, if I were more than just a passing Beastie Boys fan,
this would be heaven.

(Step one) we could have lots of fun,
(Step two) there's so much we can do,
(Step three) it's just you and me,
(Step four) I can give you more,

Bruce
