this whole name thing is quite fascinating from a different cultural
background. i never thought regular amreicans cared much about names. now
that sounded bad, huh?

anyway, i'm not ysoi, but... this whole 'stacked deck' thing.... i'd have
to politely say 'no'. let's figure maybe you don't know much about latin
music, say... k? (purely for discussion sake, not to make huge
generalisations). that would be because you don't travel in that circle. i
mean, sure you would know of Selena, and Ricky Martin, and maybe even the
Gypsy Kings... but they've crossed into what might be called 'white
pop'. no big deal, so what? niches are great, it's what people need to
feel like they belong - no one can live in the entire pocket of the
universe without craving and even getting specialisation...

what about NA music? so it's not familiar to lots of people besides
influences on some pop music and Robbie Robertson's cd... i like niches.
some people occupy more than aothers. some are like the folks i work with
- they persist in liking what they know and don't want to learn anything
new, and that's ok. (:

nope.

great, so they're white... i don't dislike them for it. i'm not quite
white... (: doesn't mean i hate white music... to borrow a phrase... i
*like* white people, some of my best friends are white... (: couldn't
resist...

nah. discussion are a curious animal... they leap the evolutionary scale
too fast for us to hang onto sometimes.

it was enlightening and happy to see that people do care about names.
