     I think that you are right that we create the
belief systems that we need to survive.  People are
amazingly adaptable.

     I like the Victor Frankl quote: we control our own
inner life. It is mind over matter even when the material
world is trying to tear you apart.

     Success literature often says things like: First
believe you are a success then you will become a success.
If you think positive of other people they often soften
a bit and become more positive toward you.

     The wings in the movie were a nice touch.  I liked
that they were shown before the island sequence but I did
not pay much attention to it until the end.  It was also
the one leftover piece of his job.  He still was working
as long as he took care of at least one package.
