radiohead and nickel creek
firstoff, i do think that critics' propensity to lap up anything thom and
co. will put out is silly. granted, radiohead are one of my favourite bands,
but i'll also admit it if i don't like something they've done (and so will
the luuuurvely british press). i think some of the melodies thom comes up
with are truly amazing (fake plastic trees, let down, stop whispering,
motion picture soundtrack, etc) but i sometimes think people fawn all over
radiohead without really liking them all that much...just to have some sort
of "indie cred". and it's true that the band has problems with it...thom has
stated that the reason so many of his vocals on "kid a" are so distorted is
because he hears so many people on the radio that sound like him
(particularly matt bellamy) that he doesn't want to sound like him anymore.
(dumb remark imho)
as for nickel creek, i think they are lovely. flipping past the country
channel, i caught them a couple of times, and i just love their music.

can't believe my hat matches my scarf matches my gloves.
