small hands, will travel

     just a little note on my first over the rhine concert expirience. it
will be short because words seem too concrete, and in this instance, far too
inadequate a medium to paint the picture.

     i arrived at the concert after the opening act; we were lost before we
arrived. five hours in a car, tired, sore, a little irritated, but glad to
be there. i cried through most of their set. karin was angelic, linford,
poetic, the band as a whole, beautiful. ethereal as they seemed, they were
human as well, and perhaps it is the combination that compelled me to tears.
the world ended and began at their fingertips, or so the captivity of the
audience would have led me to believe.

     passionate as i am about singing, writing, composing, i wonder if
picking up that microphone is worth it if i can not ellicit the same
response from my audience. its as though the music climbs inside you and
pours its emotion into yours, making it almost too rich to endure, yet you
remain tranfixed.

     i am still transfixed;

     still intent upon becoming a familliar face in the audience.
