Yup. Same for me with _Patience_. In both True Tunes and CCM Magazine.

I just picked up Mercury Rev's _Deserter's Songs_ based on the fact taht it was on, like, 6 out of
10 critic's top 10 of '98 lists on Rolling Stone's website. And it's really amazing. Done it before,
though, too. The aforementioned Lucinda Williams (although I'd heard a couple of her songs pre-_Car
Wheels..._), the new Lauryn Hill CD (although I'd heard the single, which is good. But I don't think
I'd have picked up the CD if it weren't for 8000 glowing reviews in all the music mags). there are a
ton more. I'm a junkie for music reviews. And when I see one getting solid reviews across the
boards, I don't generally even have to hear anything from it...
